What to do in Baguio
Baguio sits about 1,470 metres up in the Cordillera Central, which is why Filipinos call it the Summer Capital of the Philippines — it is reliably 10°C cooler than Manila. The city was laid out in 1905 to a plan by the American architect Daniel Burnham, and UNESCO named it a Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art in 2017.
Burnham Park and Session Road
The park at the centre of Burnham's plan, with its boating lake and rented bicycles, sits at the foot of Session Road — the main commercial street, and the easiest walk from the Governor Pack Road terminal.
Mines View Park and Baguio Cathedral
Mines View looks out over the old Benguet mining valleys from the city's eastern rim. On the way back, the pink twin spires of Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral sit above a long flight of steps off Session Road.
The public market
Strawberries from La Trinidad, ube jam, peanut brittle and woven Cordillera textiles — the Baguio City Public Market is the standard last stop before the bus home.
